Mandy Melanson Crafts Stories that Build Brands and Businesses

Mandy Melanson is Editor-in-Chief of RhetAskew Publishing and its parent company Rhetoric Askew, LLC. Prior to collaborating with her partners to establish RA, she worked as the content editor and marketing director for a local real estate firm, which she grew from an upstart with $0 revenue to a multi-million dollar firm. During that time she says, “I realized I found my niche in building brands and helping businesses stand out in this noisy social world.”

entrepreneur / marketing Director / author

She is degreed in English and Psychology and holds certifications in editing, marketing, and brand development. It was through a creative writing group on Facebook that she met her business partners, Dusty Grein, Teresa Paglino, and later Alicia Sophia. They each expressed concerns over the direction of the writing industry and its lack of support for unknown authors. Together they decided to use their individual strengths to build a supportive community for authors and artists where Mandy’s skills in branding and marketing are used to help bring unknown authors to the forefront. Because of her marketing strategy and brand building, Askew authors are placed in bookstores, well-received for author events, and have been nominated for PEN/HEMINGWAY, LAMBDA LITERARY, and GOLDEN CROWN LITERARY SOCIETY awards. They even consistently land on the best-seller list in their respective genres.

Because of her marketing strategy and brand building, Askew titles are consistent best sellers and stocked in bookstores nationwide, Askew authors are sought after for book signings and speaking engagements, and have been nominated for PEN/HEMINGWAY, LAMBDA LITERARY, and GOLDEN CROWN LITERARY SOCIETY awards.

Her writing is featured in various anthologies and collaborations, including Spillwords Press. Next up on her list of finished projects is WHY YOU’RE YOUR BOOK IS FAILING, a non-fiction book and associated course scheduled for publication in late 2018.

When she’s not writing or working to help authors develop their craft, she spends time crime-fighting with her three favorite superheroes who just happen to call her “Mom.” She says her children are her greatest blessing.
